Rio Tinto’s ERA Ranger Uranium Mine has been an open pit /underground and processing plant operation located in the Northern Territory region of Jabiru surrounded by World Heritage Kakadu wetlands, with operations closing in 2020/21. As Senior Contracts Advisor, reporting to the ERA Operations Manager, my role is responsible for contracts pertaining to production tailings and process water remediation projects, including defect liability and post commissioning.

Karratha Gas Plant Life Expansion Project. A specialist project, where my role was responsible for reviewing control and safety management technologies and associated hardware, software, engineering design, consultancy, planning and integration. Technology providers included I&E Systems, Honeywell, ABB, Plexal, Siemens, Sinclair Knight Mertz, Prosys/Apex optimisation, Moore Process Controls, Hima and Hero Engineering.

Team Lead responsible for establishing a brownfield contracts team of 4 contract specialists, supporting 40+ project engineers and executive level stakeholders with 200+ annual projects across onshore and offshore assets including NW Shelf JV and Pluto, with annual Opex and Capex value in excess of $500M.

Responsible for Offshore and Onshore Technical Services Operations call off contract development (nominally 30-40 contracts $350M+ pa) including stakeholder engagement, contract variation, tendering, strategic cost review, contractor performance review, contractor negotiations and risk mitigation, procurement mentoring/guidance.

Xchanging Procurement Services relationship was that of Sourcing and Indirect spend Agent for BAE Systems. As a Strategic Sourcing Practitioner and contractor to XPS for provision of end to end procurement services (Gain Share Methodology) to BAE, my role was responsible for end to end tender project management, service scope development, bid evaluation/short listing and preferred supplier selection, risk evaluation and mitigation, supplier/client negotiations, contract negotiations.

Term contract between Fosters Group Limited and GFORE Pty Ltd for provision of end to end procurement services. Conducted significant interaction with Fosters production sites, group legal, industry suppliers in the areas of tender management, policy development, contract negotiation and drafting, ERP extracted Supplier spend analysis and categorization alignment across SAP, JD Edwards and Oracle. Addressed and rationalised common supplier arrangements, conducted tender activity to develop new contracts, for the integration of Fosters and Southcorp Wines.

Term contract for the provision of end to end procurement services as Fosters Group were taking over Southcorp. Drove analysis and evaluation of Southcorp Wines’ contractual arrangements, baselining existing contracts, and commercial activities for the purpose of staving Fosters takeover.

Ericsson was a global and national market leader in mobiles and broadband technologies predominantly provides design, construct, implementation and management services to Telecommunication Carriers. My role was responsible for pre-sales and corporate sourcing, tender management, contract negotiation and drafting, supplier relationship management, SAP system management, sourcing strategy development, product and service category management. Established Emptoris/IBX eSourcing platform, developing new skills for eSourcing strategies, delivered to the Board, with the team given an Achievement Award.

Clearsonics was a telecommunication product design and construct start up supplying infrastructure emergency telephone solutions in countries such as Australia, Sweden, Malaysia and Indonesia. A short term engagement responsible for supplier management, production planning and design management, sales order conversion, technical resource management, product development and rationalisation, including preparation of CAD documentation, including enclosures, cabling, integrated electronics, pc cards, software and packaging.

Various consecutive term engagements with Agencies of the South Australian Government (predominantly DAIS Government ICS) including delivery of consultancy services relating to Telecommunications Carriage, Infrastructure, Supply/Maintenance, Technology Implementation and IT Application development and re-engineering.

During my Telstra career I commenced in an Engineering Design Trainee role and transitioned through various disciplines over 26 years concluding in 1999 as a Contracts Manager / Strategic Sourcing Specialist. Selected by State Manager to be part of national Rural and Remote Areas Program (implementation of modern telecommunications to >95% Australia land mass but <20% population). Specialist project team member responsible for socio-economic planning and forecasting service demand plus land excision for radio repeater tower construction.Other disciplines included Engineering Design, Land Use Planning, Project Management, Market Research, Planning, Sales Administration, Environmental Clearance / Site Access.
