• Identify and recommend legislative and political strategy positions to Congressman • Review and develop policy and analytical documents to support ongoing legislative efforts • Write and edit letters, talking points, and other communication• Prepare briefing materials for and particpate in meetings with staff and Congressman• Manage and mentor legislative staff of four, and participate in political messaging and communications for the office. • Issues of primary responsibility: Financial Services (Insurance, Banking, Capital Markets), Agriculture, Energy, Trade, Health Care, and Natural Resources.• Monitor legislative developments, and prepare analysis in these areas• Establish and maintain relationship with lobbyists, trade associations, and coalitions• Accomplishments include:• H.R. 3606, the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act: played a significant role in working with Committee and Leadership staff to work out a bipartisan version that was signed into law in 2012.• H.R. 1341, the Financial Competitive Act of 2013: collaborated with Industry and Leadership to accelerate passage of legislation, to study the differences between the United States and other jurisdictions in implementing the derivatives credit valuation adjustment capital requirement.• H.R. 2156, the Claims Licensing Advancement for Interstate Matters Act: drafted and organized coalition support, including working with insurance trade associations and other industry stakeholders.• H.R. 1779, the Preserving Access to Manufactured Housing Act of 2014: generated Committee support for bill to revise the definition of mortgage originator of any manufactured housing retailer.

Senate Committee On Indian Affairs

• Counseled Minority members of the Committee on policy and political strategy regarding legislation that impacts Indian reservations, resources and infrastructure. • These issues were often parts of broader legislation such as: health care, tax, housing, water infrastructure projects, transportation, and agriculture, which required me to work with both the Majority and Minority on relevant committees to incorporate these elements. • Accomplishments include: • H.R. 2786, the Native American Housing and Self-Determination Act Reauthorization Act of 2008 (Pub. L. 110-411)

• Implemented a number of Federal Indian and energy-related legislative issues, both with the Committee and with other Committees in the House.• Accomplishments include:• Title V of H.R. 6, the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (Pub. L. 109-58)
