Jim Linnell is a writer, teacher, and arts administator. He received his graduate training at UC Berkeley (Ph.D. Directing). His work has been performed here and abroad in Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and Israel. His book on Dramatic writing titled, Walking on Fire: The Shaping Force of Emotion in Writing Drama was published by Southern Illinois University Press in the fall of 2011. He is currently preparing his book of poems called The Menu for publication.

Professor EmeritusUniversity Of New MexicoJim Linnell retired from his faculty position after 38 years of teaching at the University of New Mexico. As professor emeritus at home continue to consult on the dramatic writing program in the Department of Theatre and dance. I will focus on my writing. My current projects are finding publication for a book of poetry titled The Menu. This Work was the basis of a theater production by the same name staged this Spring of 2013 by the Tricklock Company presented in the Experimental Theater at UNM. I am also working on a book about my injury that occurred in December of 2011. this was a spinal cord injury that initially left me as a quadriplegic by what is called an incomplete injury which allows return of function. My journey has so far brought me from being a quadriplegic to walking with a walker. This book will be about what it feels to lose everything in your body and then to fight back step-by-step.
