Working to provide resources to promote economic growth and jobs in Florence, Forest, Langlade, Marinette, Oconto, Oneida, Vilas counties in Northeastern Wisconsin.

As a Business Development Manager with Short-Elliott-Hendrickson, I acted as a local consultant to public and private clients in planning for long-term growth strategies, including infrastructure planning, tax increment financing, downtown redevelopment, housing and economic development.

Led by the University of Wisconsin Colleges and University of Wisconsin-Extension, the Adult Student Initiative is the University of Wisconsin System’s effort to increase the number of adult, nontraditional students who are working toward and obtaining a baccalaureate degree. Through the ASI, the University of Wisconsin Colleges and University of Wisconsin-Extension are leading the way in removing barriers and making it easier for adults statewide to start, continue or complete their college education.

Local elected official. Championed the establishment of Marathon County's Education & Economic Committee and then chaired it.

Policy analysis and development on a broad range of issues, constituency outreach, building media events, preparing speaking points, acting as a legislative liaison, staffing media events with Lt. Governor Lawton and website maintenance.

Member, City Council. Served as council president, as well as moving the city toward the establishment of an Economic Development Committee, which I chaired, as well as the Finance Committee. The city was successful in renovating and revitalizing much of its historic downtown during this period, including the addition of a new city square that has become an important asset in adding vibrance and activities to the downtown with concerts, markets and programmed events.

Responsibilities include forging and maintaining relationships with legislative, local government, business and media contacts in central Wisconsin; collaborating on economic development, legislative, regulatory, community education and workforce development issues to enhance the economic and social environment in the utility’s service area.

Responsibilities included media relations, employee communications, publications design & print production specifications, legislative relations, executive correspondence, advertising, brochures, speech writing, presentations, assignment & supervision of external agency work. Extensive experience from hundreds of interviews with television, radio and print media including sensitive regulatory and legal considerations; complicated and potentially unpopular consumer issues; accident situations with dramatic property damage, fatalities and injuries where legal liability and public confidence are at stake (crisis management). Additional: developed advertising themes & messages; conceived, developed and executed marketing and customer education efforts on complex issues; design and write direct mail; write and perform voice-overs for all radio advertising; supervised preparation of new company logo; developed company's Internet site. Session speaker on e-billing and payment at national and regional e-commerce conferences, 1999-2000. Extensive customer service experience, particularly complaint handling.

As a Staff Sergeant, U.S. Air Force, I worked with base newspapers and in media relations for a Strategic Air Command base with approximately 4,200 military personnel including a B-52 bombing squadron, and aerial refueling squadron, and a fighter interceptor squadron.
