Jim is part of the professional team at Westwood Fibre Resources Ltd. in Kamloops, BC. Westwood specializes in operational aspects of fibre supply, planning, and management. Westwood sources and manages all aspects of fibre supply to sawmills, pulp mills, chip plants, peeler plants, and biomass plants from public and private lands in BC and elsewhere. Westwood manages the forestry assets of some of the largest private land holders in BC including many of the largest cattle ranches in the Province. Services include inventory of timber assets, timber valuation for acquisitions and dispositions, strategic planning, harvesting operations, log and fibre sales, accounting, and general management. Westwood also provides strategic planning services relating to fibre supply and valuations for private and public operations. Westwood staff often provide expert opinions and expert witness services to law firms.

Jim also provides forestry consulting services independent of Westwood. This mostly relates to operational and strategic aspects of fibre supply, business analysis, financial planning, and project development. This includes due diligence, valuation, research, and technical support for government agencies, forest companies (large and small), off-shore and institutional investors, and law firms. Jim is a Registered Professional Forester in the Province of British Columbia, Canada.

Jim's primary role at CSRD was to estimate the value and provide information for the extraction of an estimated multi-billion dollar asset of submerged tropical timber in Volta Lake, Ghana. Jim also contributed to strategic planning for the company, financing, equipment development, and operational planning.

Jim built and operated J.S. Thrower and Associates Ltd., one of the most successful forestry consulting firms in Western Canada. Before selling the firm to a strategic buyer in 2006 the firm had 50+ professional staff at three locations in BC and Alberta. The firm specialized in strategic planning, fiber supply, growth and yield, inventory, valuation, and technical support for industrial operations.
