• Developed and implemented country strategies in Central and South America. Analyzed capacity of proponent organizations and feasibility of proposed projects; recommended new IAF investment of an average of $1 million per year. Funding areas included sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation and management, community health, rural and small-business development, women’s leadership, strengthening grassroots organizations, and non-formal education. • Developed learning initiatives together with grantees to improve project performance through training and technical assistance in topics like leadership, organization, marketing, extension education, conflict management, administration, and project monitoring/evaluation. • Managed Grant/Contract Portfolios. Supervised programmatic, financial, and legal implementation of 15 to 30 projects at a time. Initiated project evaluations to improve performance and share lessons-learned in articles, presentations, and working groups. Led bidding, selection and management of in-country technical teams; assisted IAF in developing a new in-country contracting process. • Representation, Public Speaking and Writing. Presented project and country strategy to IAF senior management and Board of Directors. Provided regular briefings about IAF program for US Ambassadors. Presented lessons learned to audiences such as World Bank, professional associations, and universities. Authored seven articles for Grassroots Development Journal.
