Jim Black retired from the faculty at Northern Vermont University (formerly Johnson State College) where he worked since 1987 where he was Professor and Chair of the Business Department. He taught courses in Strategic Management. Accounting, Excel, and Personal Finance. As Board Vice President of the Lamoille Economic Development Corp., he is helping create their strategic plan. Jim founded Software Seminars Inc. which provides training to a number of corporations and government agencies. He also worked in the telecommunications industry in strategic planning and long-range forecasting.Dr. Black received his Ph.D in Systems Science, M.S. in Mathematics, and B.S. in Psychology at Portland State University. He was on the faculty at the University of Connecticut, School of Business Administration where he taught Information Technology and Quantitative Methods. His current areas of interest are: the contemporary management approaches, Workforce Development and Leadership. His academic specializations are: Entrepreneurship, Systems Approach to problem solving, Programming Languages, and Quantitative Analysis. His passions are: playing with his Grandchildren, motorcycles, and watching the grass grow.
