Manufacturing Process Engineering

Reported to the Director of Advanced Engineering & Director of Technology. Responsible for initiating, evaluating and implementing solutions to manufacturing issues, product design changes, and product improvements, including mechanization projects. International sustaining efforts include on-site support and a minimum of weekly discussions with Engineering Support and Development teams in China and Malaysia.• Served as Co-Leader of a major value creation project to develop and replace an inefficient manual product line at a manufacturing facility in China; involved in all phases from concept to vendor sub-contracting and qualification.- Developed new RoHS compliant and halogen-free adhesive material and the implementation of new cleaning, traverse winding and Gravure coating processes for aluminum and SS foils.- Developed and transferred production equipment, including a semi-automatic metal stamping and part handling system and a new induction heat forming technology.- Realized a 40% direct labor reduction, 12% material waste reduction and 2500 square feet of reclaimed production space.• Served as Engineering Co-Leader for a value creation project that replaced a manual plastic thin film punching process with a semi-automated Excimer laser based machining system.- Acted as sub-contractor between Asian facility and automation supplier.- Resulted in a 60% direct labor reduction, a 30% reduction in scrap loss and 10% yield improvement.

Reported to the Equipment Engineering Manager. Responsible for constructing manufacturing production line and test equipment, sustaining Excimer and YAG laser welding, drilling and marking systems, automated assembly systems, PLC and motion control systems and providing on-site sustaining support in Asia.• Served as technical lead on automation process transfer from the US to England, 3 product line transfers from the US to Malaysia and 3 product lines from the US to China.• Acted as Value Creation team member responsible for transferring a high-cost manual thermo-forming process from the US to the Philippines, a project that result in a 40% piece part cost reduction and a 5% yield improvement.• Transferred a critical manufacturing process from a China based facility to a Malaysian facility, realizing a 20% piece part cost reduction and a 7% yield improvement.

Responsible for sustaining, constructing and calibrating production line and test equipment systems, utilizing PLC and motion control based equipment.• Served as a member of the cross-functional team tasked with the adoption of Design of Manufacture rules for product and equipment design.• Participated as a member of the Planning & Execution team responsible for transitioning from manual to automated/semi-automated production line equipment.
