I work as a research assistant in the Strominger laboratory at Harvard University. Using RNAi, microscopic imaging, and biological function assays, I study the molecular mechanisms of cytotoxicity in Natural Killer cells. My work focues on the SNARE family of proteins and microtubule related proteins.After graduating, I would like to take a few years to work in the biotechnology industry in Seattle. Eventually I plan on continuing my studies in either medicine or molecular biology at the University of Washington. As a medical doctor I would focus my efforts on providing service to poor communities in the US and Mexico. As a scientist I would study infectious diseases which affect mostly the poor in an effort to bring about cheap and effective treatments.I've also volunteered with many Christian organizations building homes and churches, discipling high school students, and leading bible studies. Most recently I spent two months in a center for rehabilitation from addiction in Mexico. Therapy methods focused on community style living, one on one discipleship, and the development of occupational skills.My father is a part time real estate investor. My work with him has given me experience in home remodeling, repair, and maintainence. I've also learned the basics of buying, selling, and renting homes during favorable market conditions.Specialties: Developing RNAi vectors, immunostaining and confocal microscopy, and immunoprecipitation, cell culture, plasmid vector cloning and manipulation.
