Developing C++ and Java back ends for large commercial web sites. I worked extensively with the back end of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) 6.2 to integrate it with existing customer backends. I also worked heavily with a Spring / Hibernate based application server that provided realtime auto complete and search functionality for a large international real estate web site. This app server also interfaced with a custom C++ backend that handled indexing and search for a large Redis datastore.

I was responsible for user enhancements, development and the day to day management of the site. This was a standard LAPP (Linux, Apache, Postgresql, PHP) stack hosted on Redhat Enterprise Linux. I implemented a number of enhancements to the base site, including subfolders within the document system, finer grained permissioning and a dependency manager.Enhanced and developed reporting libraries in C that were used by legacy FORTRAN systems. This particular project involved a complete rewrite of the reporting system without changing the external API or visible behaviour in any way.Setup and managed a private cloud computing site for internal users based on Nimbula Director (http://nimbula.com).Managed resources hosted in the Amazon cloud via AWS.Maintained and enhanced a security library for Java web services that gave developers a “one stop shop” for supporting the variety of authentication and authorization methods used by Thomson Reuters. I am also the author of the MsgEd editor used for offline messaging by Fidonet node operators. Written in C, it supported Fidonet echo groups (similar to Usenet newsgroups) and standard email. The actual text editor portion of the software was licensed to SEA for use in their Fidonet systems.
