About Jim Vance

Jim Vance is with the IC2 Institute of The University of Texas at Austin and Managing Director of the Innovation & Business Acceleration Center (IBAC) in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Jim is an expert in large-scale technology assessment and commercialization systems, and teaching inventors how to successfully launch their innovation. Prior to joining the IC2 Institute, Jim was services marketing and resolution manager for Dell to North America, Europe and South Asia. Jim garnered repeated awards for his contributions toward marketing and sales readiness of new corporate and government enterprise services. Jim went on a worldwide tour to implement a program he designed that significantly elevated Dell's declining customer experience. Earlier in his career, Jim served as a U.S. Army Captain and Commander of armored tank units. He and 20 other officers were selected to The Army Training Board to create and implement the Army’s new training system. Jim’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from the University of Hawaii and a MBA from The University of Texas at Austin. Jim grew up on Kaupakulua Fruit Farm on the slopes of Mount Haleakala, Maui, Hawaii harvesting his father’s prized lychee fruit from China.Specialties: Establish technology incubation centers for start-ups and export promotion programs for existing enterprises, and Develop commercialization strategies for technology innovations.
