About Jim Wolf

As an award-winning journalist, reported from some 30 countries over more than 40 years. Now working on special projects and reporting for News-Decoder.com, a project with fellow former Reuters correspondents. Based by turns in New York, Paris, Bangkok and Washington D.C. for AP-Dow Jones, Agence-France Presse, Jane's Defence Weekly and Reuters, I also have written for many other leading news outlets, including Time Magazine, Newsweek, and the old International Herald Tribune. As a Washington correspondent for Reuters for 26 years, I specialized in national security, high technology, and the U.S. military-industrial complex. Other areas of extensive reporting: U.S. intelligence agencies, nuclear proliferation, terrorism, cybersecurity, East Asia security issues, arms sales, North Korea, U.S.-China ties. As a visiting professor, taught graduate-level advanced news writing and reporting at Shanghai International Studies University's School of Journalism & Communication 2015-2017. Lectured on journalism widely in the U.S. and China. Prior to journalism, had good enough fortune to work as the dolphin keeper at Paris's Moulin Rouge cabaret and, as a Seafarers International Union member, in the U.S. Merchant Marine freighter fleet's engine department.
