John Clement is a Director, Cinematographer and Editor with awards as a feature-film drama Director of Photography and documentary filmmaker. He has worked across genres and formats: long- and short-form drama and documentary, information and education, broadcast journalism, corporate production and television commercials. In June, 2013, John returned to Canada after more than a decade based out of southern Africa as a founding partner in Storyline Media. With a client base ranging from rural community organisations to US- and UK-based international development agencies, he directed, photographed and edited independent, pro bono and commissioned productions on social, health and development issues for African and international audiences.John first went to Botswana on a two-year media development and training project and subsequently designed and delivered learning projects — with timelines from three days to three months — on documentary, the creative and production fundamentals of drama, television photojournalism and acting for film. He is the co-author of a one-year television drama training-with-production project proposal now under review by the government of Botswana. His most recent project was a consultancy and workshop to assist a non-profit organisation working in HIV/AIDS communications make the difficult creative and practical transition from radio drama to television drama.
