I lead the Policy and Compliance team to ensure the Trade Me site is trusted and safe by making Trade Me better every day through implementing policy changes which allow members to have a strong playing field in which to buy a lawn mower or sell their wares.Within the Trust and Safety team, I have key responsibility for Trade Me’s relationships with multiple Government agencies including MBIE, IRD, Energy Safety, MPI, SIS, ACC, MSD, OPC, and the Commerce Commission. This includes meeting with policy teams, enforcement agents, and Ministers and MPs on a range of issues. I’ve built excellent working relationships with industry and NGO groups. I also oversee the operation of the Intellectual Property Programme (counterfeit prevention, rights holder management), product safety issues and compliance with most regulations with special emphasis on enforcing and educating members about consumer protection legislation.I put out a lot of fires. A lot of them.

Based in the Consumer Policy Team of the Consumer Affairs Branch, I did a lot of policy development work on the motor vehicle industry, gas appliance safety, consumer credit, consumer law and a lot of briefings for Ministers!

Did a lot of submissions to Government focusing on economic policy from the perspective of the farming community. Had a big interest in promoting free trade. Marched in the occasional protest wearing a cowsuit...
