About John Weale
I seek to improve the human and animal condition and expand the profession of veterinary medicine. I do so by actively working with veterinary professionals in private practice, industry, schools & colleges of veterinary medicine and with veterinary students, veterinary clients and patients.I seek personal growth and learning opportunities while supporting and interacting with others.I desire to make a difference in capacities that utilize my talents and passions. These interests and passions include: critical thinking, team building, working with people, educating people, communications, travel, personal growth, organizational skills, animal care and health, zoonotic disease and ecosystem health.Dr. Weale is a 1987 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine (OSU). Prior to veterinary college, he attended Vanderbilt University and received two degrees in biomedical engineering. Upon graduation from OSU, he entered companion animal clinical practice and worked as an associate and practice owner. He was co-director of a 4 doctor AAHA practice in the Columbus Ohio area. While in clinical veterinary medicine, the practice was awarded a Pfizer practice of excellence award that recognizes business management principles and staff and client engagement. Additionally, Dr. Weale has been actively involved in the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) having served on numerous committees and eventually president of the OVMA. For his outstanding service to the Ohio veterinary community, he has been twice recognized at OVMA Veterinarian of the Year. Dr. Weale decided to enter academic veterinary medicine in 2008 and has been on faculty at OSU, Ross University and Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Weale is past Associate Dean of Clinical Relations and Outreach at LMU. Most recently Dr. Weale has been recognized with the Deans Award for Leadership at LMU. He is leading the veterinary distributive learning group, Consortium of Workplace Based Education and Learning (COWBEL). Left as OVMA Treasurer to go through the ranks to become OVMA president as major goal was accomplished when OVMA's reserves exceeded one years operating expenses.
