John led numerous violent crime investigations involving criminal street gangs, robbery, narcotics, money laundering, and international firearm trafficking investigations. The investigations required the coordination and cooperation of numerous local, state, federal, and foreign law enforcement officials in various locations across the U.S. and several.

During his time with the Kentucky State Police, John distinguished himself in various roles, including general investigation, K-9 handler, and a member of the Special Response Team. KSP SRT was the only full-time team in Kentucky with a 120-county area of responsibility. Primary focus was the execution of high-risk warrant operations, hostage rescue.
