My primary responsibility is to oversee the private development process for the Town of Clayton from Construction Drawing review to final acceptance of all public infrastructure including utilities. I manage the Engineering inspection staff and provide recommendation to council for infrastructure acceptance. I provide guidance and direction regarding public utility availability, capacity analysis, and coordination of existing infrastructure improvements to serve planned private developments. I lead maintaining and updates of the Engineering Manual of Standards Specifications, and Design as well as Unified Development Code, as needed. Additionally, I coordinate and review all traffic impact analysis' within the Town of Clayton and assist Public Works with other traffic and transportation related issues and concerns. I also manage and lead several Town Capital Improvement Projects and provide overall department support with the Director of Engineering.

As Transportation Engineer, I review all development plans for Site Layout, Horizontal and Vertical Design, typical section, asphalt design, etc. Additionally, in coordination with NCDOT, I review and analyze Traffic Impact Analysis' for incoming developments and provide required roadway improvements to accommodate additional traffic caused by the development. I manage and provide Contract Administration on all Roadway Capital Improvement Projects around Wake Forest. This includes three multi-year construction projects which consists of roadway widening, operational improvements, and pedestrian facility additions. These projects are coordinated through partnerships with CAMPO and NCDOT.As well as plan review, I manage the Construction Inspection group which consists of four construction inspectors and a construction inspection supervisor. With that, I oversee the infrastructure acceptance process for new developments to ensure the Town of Wake Forest is receiving infrastructure that is constructed per Town of Wake Forest's Manual of Specifications, Standards, and Design as well as the Unified Development Ordinance. In partnership with Planning, Administration, and Finance, I update the annual Capital Improvement Plan for Transportation and annual operating budget for Construction Inspection and Transportation Engineering and submit the annual Powell Bill Submittal to NCDOT for Powell Bill funding.I am also a voting member on both CAMPO's Technical Coordinating Committe (TCC), the Transit Planning Advisory Committee (TPAC), and US 1 Council of Planning on behalf of the Town of Wake Forest.

I served as an Assistant Resident Engineer in Youngsville, NC for NCDOT in Division 5. I managed daily operations of highway and bridge construction projects, supervised and supported engineering field technicians, made field engineering decisions, monitored and resolved traffic control issues, and managed erosion control and permit compliance. I provided contract administration duties which included: Processing partial monthly estimates, supplemental agreements, contractor claims, project submittals, monthly construction progress meetings, coordinate utility relocation, and review material sampling and testing reports.

My primary duties comprised of reviewing and processing applications for driveway permits, encroachment agreements, road addition investigations and subdivision reviews. I performed plan reviews for private developments/utilities to be constructed within NCDOT right-of-way. I also performed periodic on-site inspections to ensure compliance with NCDOT standards and specifications, as well as, final reviews of projects after completion. I communicated with the developers/engineering firms of any corrective items that need to be addressed prior to final approval.

While working for RS&H, I was on contract with NCDOT as a Transportation Technician II. I performed inspection duties on highway construction projects. I ensured that the contractor, myself, and other inspection staff were performing all operations in the safest manner possible. I ensured both the contractor and subcontractor were following the standards and specifications set by the NCDOT as well as the projects plans and contract special provisions. I performed erosion control inspections, ensuring all environmental standards/ permit compliance were followed as set by the Army Corp of Engineers and NCDOT. I observed and performed materials sampling and testing for roadway items ensuring all materials meet NCDOT criterion. A summary report, detailing what duties were performed and inspected by myself and what activities the contractor performed, was prepared on a daily basis. These reports were sent to project inspector and Resident Engineer of the division for review.
