Analyst, Strategy & Science
Technology Transfer Project Manager
As a Technology Transfer Project Manager, I drove the transfer of products from research and development to and through manufacturing to clinical trials or product launch. I accomplished this by working with cross-functional teams including scientists, engineers, regulatory affairs, marketing, manufacturing, program management, and quality assurance.
Postdoctoral Scholar
I investigated bacterial stress response proteins using biophysical, structural, and genetic approaches. Specifically, I studied the Alphaproteobacterial general stress response which merges two classical gene regulatory paradigms: two-component signaling (TCS) and alternative σ factor regulation by way of the PhyR regulatory protein. My research focused on the underlying structural mechanisms of PhyR activation by phosphorylation using small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), biomolecular NMR, bacterial two-hybrid assays, and classical biophysical approaches. This work resulted in the publication of a first author peer-reviewed manuscript and presentation at an international conference.
Techstart Analyst, Technology Commercialization And Licensing
In this role, I evaluated university-derived intellectual property, defined possible products, prepared marketing summaries, and provide prioritization recommendations. As I gained more experience, I rose to team lead managing commercialization diligence, product differentiation, and determining competitive space.
Graduate Research And Teaching Assistant
My graduate research contributions focused on the characterization sulfide and redox stress on Staphylococcus aureus under the direction of Professor David Giedroc using a combination of proteomic, microbiology, molecular biology, biophysics, and biochemistry-based approaches. This work led to multiple first author and coauthor publications and presentations at several international conferences. In addition to my own research, I dedicated significant time to training and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students both in the lab and with career development. The mentorship is highlighted by H. Peng, who is a coauthor on multiple publications and career development highlighted by being a founding committee member of the Indiana University Chemistry Department Career Development Symposium.Lastly, I was a teaching assistant for six semesters, leading both discussion sections and laboratory courses including Introductory Chemistry I and II, Biochemistry, Biochemistry Lab, and Intermediate Chemistry I and II.
Specimen Processing
Undergraduate Research Assistant
My undergraduate research was conducted under the supervision and mentorship of Professor Ted Wilson where we investigated the glycemic response of noninsulin-dependent Type II diabetic individuals to various cranberry products. The primary conclusion from this work is that replacement of simple sugars with polydextrose in sweetened-dried cranberries (SDCs) provides an alternative food product for Type II diabetics by lowering glycemic and insulinemic responses, lowering caloric content, and maintaining beneficial phenolic compounds found in SDCs. This work culminated in a publication and presentation at an international conference.
