The Tuberculosis Reduction through Expanded Antiretroviral Treatment and Screening (TREATS) study was conducted Zambart (collaboration between LSHTM and the MoH of Zambia) in Zambia and South Africa. The Intensive Diagnostic Phase (IDP) was part TREATS and served to gain more insight into the optimal algorithm for TB prevalence survey and learn more on how to classify cases as active TB. My role within this project was to help set up the IDP follow-up study. I will be involved again when analyses will be conducted.

One of the tasks of KAAK is to hand out certificates to primary care centres that fulfill the health care requirements KAAK set for COPD health care. Aim of the study was to measure the difference in disease specific health status and patient satisfaction between primary health care centres with and without a certificate in Sköne, Sweden.

In the summer of 2017, I joined a project of IFMSA and VIN for 1.5 months for a development internship in a village called Kavresthali, near Kathmandu. In this internship, we helped gathering data for a study on nutrition and I executed house-to-house visits to educate about nutrition and first aid. During my development internship in Nepal I learned that fieldwork can change your perspective on local health care in these regions. It can make you realise that plans on paper develop differently in practice.
