As the Innovation Lead of Vela, I direct our efforts towards the advancement of innovative bio-based technologies in organizations. My focus area includes assessment and development of processes and products that empowers businesses and drive forward the bioeconomy principles.

I conduct feasibility studies (such as tecno-economic assessments and technology assessments) for the industrial scale-up of biotechnological innovations for both local italian stakeholders and EU Horizon R&D projects.

Technology assessment for the fractionation of macro algae biomass with a biorefinery approach. Scale up of technologies such as biostimulants and phytocolloids for the agroindustry with fermentation-based techniques.

Consultant on hazardous waste management and environmental compliance for Theragenics and PRMC (medical devices manufacturer) and SOLIRSA (electronic waste management).Selection of process equipment and operational troubleshooting for ANODISA. LPG supply inspector for local restaurants (NFPA 10, 54 and 58 compliance).

Awarded with three innovation funds for the design and implementation of solutions for local industries: 1. Design, automation and implementation of a pilot crystallization of an oil based food product that successfully solved the three main operation issues of Los Patitos industrial plant (2018-2019) - The Blueprint by PROCOMER.2. Design, automation and implementation of an aeroponic water and nutrient recirculation system for Aeroplant - the first aeroponic farm in Central America (2020) - AUGE UCR.3. Design of a water recirculation system to reduce the water footprint of the metal finishing plant of Anodisa (2021) - Crecimiento Verde by PROCOMER.I was involved with the contest proposals for the three funds, translating the industrial needs of the businesses into project requirements within the awarded budgets.
