I work on understanding the mechanism of engineered allostery in the Lab of Dr. Kimberly Reynolds. Member of department of Bioinformatics and Biophysics as well as The Green Center for Systems BiologySecured funding ($25,000) for and executed an independent research project.Developed a new collaboration with CUNY Advanced Science Research Center (Kevin Gardner), New York.Resulted in one publication, two in preparation, invited presentations at UTA and NY Institute of Technology.

Postdoc in the lab of Kimberly Reynolds in the departments of Bioinformatics and Biophysics. Developed new approaches to evolve allostery in the lab with a goal towards understanding how regulation is optimized. Performed biophysical experiments and MD simulations to understand what physical properties might distinguish allosteric hotspots.Resulted in two publications, Distinguished Postdoctoral Service Award (UTSW), Best Elevator Talk Award (UTSW), Travel Awards to present at four conferences, and invited speaker at the 2020 Biophysical Society.My data was used to support an NSF CAREER award for the lab ($1,152,845 for FY 2020-2022).

Taught Essentials of Biology (Biology for Non-science majors) to 75 undergraduates. Contemporaneous with postdoc. Designed all aspects of the course: twice weekly 1 hour lectures, wrote all exam questions, and held office hours.Resulted in Successful course accreditation review and overwhelmingly positive teaching evaluations, significantly higher than departmental and university average.

Identified novel small molecules that reverse chemotherapy resistance in human cancer cells.Identified potential drugs and defined protein mechanisms in SMU Center for Drug Discovery, Design and Delivery.Collaborated with physicists, medicinal chemists, and in vivo experimentalists to test drugs. Directly supervised 6 undergraduates with independent projects, Taught 15 lab semesters, each of 25 students.Resulted in three first-author publications, Departmental Research award, five travel awards, five presentations, invited speaker: UTSW, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 2017 Experimental Biology National Conference.

Genetic testing for rare hereditary disorders using Next-Gen Illumina sequencing.Present during successful Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certification and rollout of exome sequencing services.

Interned under John D. Reveille, MD in the The Division Of Rheumatology And Clinical Immunogenetics aiding in the Phase III studies of biologic therapies for ankylosing spondylitis.
