My journey unfolds at the intersection of community building, neuroscience, and data science. Each path, from fostering inclusivity in communities, exploring the human psyche, to harnessing the potential of machine learning and AI at Columbia and now at NationBuilder, has been a step towards understanding the larger narrative of our societal transition. It's a transition not just technological, but deeply cultural, veering from a dominance-based ethos to one of inclusivity. The stakes are clear. As change accelerates, will we embrace an inclusive culture or resist and risk violence? My role as the Chief Community Scientist at NationBuilder is more than a job—it's a mission to ensure we navigate this transition peacefully. It’s about empowering individuals amidst this digital epoch to foster a realm where inclusivity and creativity flourish. As we stand at the cusp of a new societal narrative, I extend an invitation to explore this unique juncture of technology, ethics, and leadership. What realms of possibility do you envision in this unfolding scenario? Together, let's traverse this uncharted territory, fostering a peaceful and inclusive culture in a world ready for transformation.

As described in The Different Drum: Community Making and Peace and A World Waiting to Be Born by M. Scott Peck, MD, FCE encourages people, in a fragmented world, to discover new and better ways of being together. Living, learning, and teaching the principles of community, FCE serves as a catalyst for individuals, groups, and organizations to:-- Communicate with authenticity-- Relate with love and respect-- Deal with difficult issues-- Seek, honor and affirm diversity-- Bridge differences with integrity-- Acknowledge our human frailties-- Take responsibility for our actions and make amends where possible-- Practice forgiveness for ourselves and others FCE's approach encourages tolerance of ambiguity, the experience of discovery, and the tension between holding on and letting go. In our work to empower others, we remember our reliance upon a Spirit within and beyond ourselves.https://www.amazon.com/Different-Drum-Community-Making-Peace-ebook/dp/B003LL3K5Mhttps://www.amazon.com/World-Waiting-Be-Born-Rediscovered-ebook/dp/B002IPZBOA
The goal of Everybody As Our Own is to introduce and promote ways of being that can help us overcome that which separates us, and bring us together in kinship. We work with organizations and community groups to address cultural and racial issues related to poverty and social and economic justice.
My research concentrated on the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare, focusing on leveraging real-time patient monitoring data for personalized medicine in critical care. This involved:1. Utilizing algorithms to generate patient-specific physiological targets, tailoring treatments to individual patient needs.2. Employing advanced machine learning techniques for the early detection of secondary complications, enhancing predictive healthcare models.3. Developing clinical informatics tools to aid in patient management decisions, integrating complex data sets for more informed care.4. Identifying modifiable factors that drive health outcomes through AI-driven data analysis, contributing to evidence-based medical practices. As a member of the Columbia Institute for Data Sciences and Engineering (http://idse.columbia.edu), my work helped bridge the gap between data science and clinical applications, showcasing the transformative potential of AI in healthcare.
