I undertook an Erasmus plus year with my University, allowing me to take a year out in industry, requiring the undertaking of finding an internship, I successfully interviewed through Skype with Bilua, a young, rapidly growing online ecommerce company. My role in the company was to create online advertising, and to update and keep the website looking and running smoothly. I was able to develop some UX and UI skills which has allowed me to further my knowledge in an area of design that is becoming more and more popular. Dealing with just online work was a big step for me as i had grown to be comfortable with mainly print based work so it was good for me to try something new and exciting Overall this experience has allowed me to understand how it would be to live and work in a different country than to the UK, and to show how a digital based company can operate and manage its design based elements.

I undertook a work placement at DCI-Artform for part of a 2nd year module at university, While working at DCI i was able to get a valid in site in to the inner workings of a large retail marketing business, and also got to work alongside their senior designers on some point of sale designs for a big named brand. My role at the company was to create artwork for the clients that would be used as point of sale material in stores across the UK and Europe. these tasks ranged fro creating specialist designs for one off booth designs that the creative designers would have created to the standard in store booths. Through out this experience i was able to realise the important's of good communication between colleagues and other teams in the office as well communicated team will work as efficiently as a well oiled engine will, helping to provide the work with the upmost efficiency.

I was part of a team that designed and wrote a children’s storybook for a local charity, ERS (Emergency Riders Service). The intention of the storybook was to raise awareness of the great work ERS does. I was tasked with designing the background illustrations and designing the layout of the typography, which included the following: -Created designs for a specific target audience while at the same time working with the client to satisfy their expectations. -Worked with a small team and took a leadership role making decisions that all parties were happy with.-Illustrated all backgrounds and scenery in the book-Created typesetting and layout for the book-Produced a children’s book that has been published to local schools and some stores around the Birmingham area.
