As a member of the ClarITy management team, I am responsible for account management, sales and marketing, and business development. Since its founding in 2003, ClarITy has been dedicated to serving the needs of international businesses and locally managed foreign businesses in the region. I have helped small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the ASEAN region to develop their IT strategy and design end-to-end IT solutions. I have also assisted with outsourcing the development, hosting, and operations of these solutions to local IT companies in the region. During this period of my career, I took a break from corporate jobs and moved to a smaller, privately owned company.

As a senior solution and infrastructure architect, I was responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining an IT infrastructure strategy based on industry best practices. I was involved in the start-up of Brussels Airlines after the bankruptcy of Sabena, and played a key role in building a strong IT department from scratch, with a team of 11 people. As the process owner for ITIL processes such as availability, continuity, capacity, disaster recovery planning, and security, I helped to ensure that the IT infrastructure was reliable and secure. I also served as the IT security manager for Brussels Airlines, overseeing technical e-commerce platforms.

I have played a lead architect and bid manager role in several pre-sales projects, with a focus on responding to requests for proposals (RFPs) in the public sector and telecommunications industry. My responsibilities have included designing and proposing architectures in the areas of information technology and systems, security, governance, and network infrastructure. I was hired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg to design a new secured intranet and document management system. The intranet needed to connect all of the ministry's embassies around the world and meet NATO and EU security standards for electronic document transmission. As the solution architect, I was involved in the early stages of the tender process and my solution was selected by the customer for further development. My responsibilities included conducting interviews and workshops with the customer to gather requirements, and using that information to design the complete intranet architecture. This included the logical and physical architecture of the archiving system, as well as the network, storage, servers, applications, and security and governance elements of the overall architecture.

During my time at AdValvas sa/nv, I was responsible for all IT-related aspects of the company, as well as being a member of the top management team. AdValvas sa/nv was one of the largest portal sites in Belgium at the time, with a Yahoo-like directory and approximately 30,000 unique visitors per day. My responsibilities included budgeting, personnel management, development, maintenance, and infrastructure, as well as customer care and help desk support.

I have been hired by the International Post Corporation to redesign their telecommunication infrastructure, including the internet and intranet, e-mail, security, and help desk systems. I have overall responsibility for the infrastructure, IT security (physical and logical), telecommunication systems (PABX), network (routers, switches, cables, patch-boards), internet, and email servers.

I created the first website for the Consumer Policy DG XXIV, which was presented at the G7 conference in Brussels by the European Commissioner, Ms. Emma Bonino. The website was later integrated into the EUROPA server. In addition to creating the website, I also participated in the development of the EUROPA internet/intranet server. I was part of a study group, consisting of people from DG XX, SG, DI, and DG XXIII, that was responsible for creating the internal intranet server and the external Europa server, which can be found at http://europa.eu.int/. Another project that I was involved in was the Consumer Land Project, which involved creating a virtual world to educate consumers about the European-wide aspect of consumer protection and encourage them to take advantage of the benefits of the Single Market. The goal of the project was to give consumers the confidence they need to participate in the construction of the market.

I developed a system for DG's XXI and XXIV called the Rapid Exchange of Information System (REIS) which was designed to facilitate the exchange of information between these departments. In addition to developing the system, I also designed graphical user interfaces for various applications and was responsible for installing and configuring PC workstations in DG XXIV, as well as providing first level user support and training. Some of the projects I have been involved in include: moving from a WAIS (dumb terminal system with Q-Office application) to Windows 3.11 (PC-NFS) for the internal infrastructure; installing and configuring Route400, an X400 e-mail system; creating templates for Office applications to ensure a consistent look and feel (Eurolook); developing the second edition of REIS with e-mail integration (REIS II); creating a database of abusive clauses in contracts for DG XXIV (Jurisprudence); and developing a budget online system with X.25 connections to a central database (BUDGET).
