About Jonathan Payne
Jonathan has over 14 years of experience in project management and operational support from a range of technical assistance and community development positions. At Maher & Maher he served as Program Manager of the WorkforceGPS project for more than six years, overseeing a team of nine. Under his management, the Federal client successfully transitioned from their legacy site of 12 years to a modernized CMS platform. During his time leading the team, Maher developed new areas of service under the contract and incorporated industry-leading adult methodologies and instructional design thinking into the client’s technical assistance products. During and after the transition, the client continued to enjoy seamless delivery of their online technical assistance and audience outreach through his virtual events team, which consistently promoted innovative ways to redesign site layout, content, and outreach to make online technical assistance content more impactful and engaging. Under Jonathan’s management, WorkforceGPS grew to 33 unique Communities of Practice and steadily increased its site membership and audience activity since launch. Prior to joining Maher, Jonathan worked with USDOL/ETA as a Workforce Analyst. In addition to participating in the development and implementation of the first grants and pilot projects under WIF, he worked to establish funding priorities and program designs, key policies, and solutions for the WIF grants. While at ETA, Jonathan also directed the Expanding Business Engagement TA initiative and led development of the Pay for Success grant competition. Jonathan is fluent in Spanish after spending 3 years in Peace Corps Panama working with local farmers and communities on improving agri-business opportunities. He spent an additional 2 years in Argentina consulting for the hospitality, tourism, and restaurant sectors. He has a passion for travel, particularly to Latin America, and has been operating remotely as a freelance consultant to several small food-focused businesses, non-profits, and Federal clients for the past 2 years.
