Being Head of Business and Economics, Skills for Life, Careers and Vocational Studies requires significant time management skills and a willingness to go above and beyond.I introduced vocational studies into Westonbirt School in September 2017. Since then there has been a consistent increase in demand and a widening of courses offered. This is combined with an increase extra curricular competitions being run within my department across all key stages including GCHQ Enterprising competitions and AWS GETIT. In 2017 a team of 5 girls from Westonbirt School won the GCHQ competition. We currently have two teams taking part in the AWS GETIT competition who have risen to the challenge and are doing extremely well.As Head of Vocational Education I have overall responsibility for the suitability, quality and success of the vocational offer at Westonbirt School in key stage 4 and 5. Working with Heads of Departments Faculty and the Exams Officer to monitor lessons, assessment and delivery to ensure full compliance with Exam board and JCQ regulations.Responsibilities also includes researching and recommending changes to the vocational offer to students, as well as marketing all vocational courses to current and potential students.As Quality Nominee I am responsible for arranging and co-ordinating the annual visit from the examination board’s Centre Quality Reviewer. Which includes agreeing the agenda of the visit, negotiate when this will take place and which staff members need to be involved as well as completing the Centre Engagement Document. After the visit, to manage the resolution of any Essential Actions and Recommendations.

• Responsible for the teaching of Business Studies throughout the school.• Lead and manage a team of staff in provision of stimulating, quality Business Studies curriculum for students aged 11-18, which met external requirements and school and department objectives.• Kept up to date with new developments in the curriculum and liaised with colleagues as and when appropriate.• Monitored and evaluated student progress within the department and responsible for the promotion of raising student achievement.• Promoted the ethos of inclusion and challenge within the schools vision and mission statements and in so doing reinforced the schools culture of high expectations.• Acted as Pastoral Assistant and took some responsibility for whole school issues, such as reports, parents’ evenings, work experience and pastoral care, including tutoring, school trips, field courses.

• Taught GCSE and A Level Business Studies (one year intensive course and a two year course), A Level Economics (one year intensive course and a two year course), GCSE Information Studies (one year course). • Co-ordinated the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

• Responsible for planning and delivering all subjects within the department.• Actively involved in boarding school life, including being on duty every Thursday night, supervising study time and looking after the well being of four students.
