    Guildford Tyres is a £7m turnover, five branch, family-owned tyre & car repair company which has meant that my role has encompassed many things. I was employed in the office for the first nine and a half years and, since my move to Cornwall, I have worked from home visiting the office once a month. I am solely responsible for the sales, purchase and nominal ledgers, credit control, bank reconciliation, and payroll. I produce reports at month end including KPIs. Within the payroll I administer the pensions, childcare vouchers, bonuses, sick pay, holiday pay etc having liaised with the Directors and HR. I work closely with the accountancy firm each quarter to assist them in producing the management accounts and VAT return. I am one of three signatories at the bank, the other two being the directors. As well as the accounts work, I ensure that the fleet of vans is serviced, MOTd and taxed when necessary and oversee the motor insurance, PL & EL insurance. I also administer the utility and maintenance contracts for each branch and ensure that stationery and consumables are ordered as and when stocks run low.In 2013, we installed a new computer system (Tyresoft) which, whilst specific to the industry, is very much like Sage. I have made it my business to learn and understand every aspect of the system from how to place purchase orders and check pricing to creating new sales, in order to assist other members of staff as and when queries with the system arise.

    Following the collapse of my previous employer in 2005, I worked for Faun Municipal Vehicles in Wokingham carrying out hire administration and invoicing customers for damage to hired vehicles. I worked for Gullivers Truck Hire, Thatcham in the capacity of Hire Sales. Both of these jobs were thanks to a former director of MHS who asked me to go along and help. I also worked for Inchcape Toyota/Lexus, Guildford carrying out administration and invoicing in both the Service and Parts departments.

Inspections would have to be carried out on every vehicle in the fleet (approx 300) on a weekly basis and my department was responsible for the administration of all of the vehicles within the London & SE Area. When vehicles came back from hire, they were inspected by myself or an engineer and I would raise a charge to the customer for any damage that had occurred during the hire period. I would then ensure that these invoices were paid.
