My column, "In Case You Missed It," appears every other week in the San Francisco Bay Times.

Building on my years of work with the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund, I am honored to join the team at Bay Area Cancer Connections in their mission of providing support to Bay Area people with breast and ovarian cancer.

Provide support for a wide variety of events in San Francisco's historic Green Room, in the War Memorial Building.

San Francisco Bay Area

Provide event support for conventions at Moscone Center and other venues on an on-call basis, with emphasis on customer service. Duties include: registration, stage management, show office management, information desk, speaker assistance, floor manager's assistant, press check-in, directional, room monitor, and other duties as assigned. Other agencies I work for include Eastridge Staffing Solutions, Scion Staffing, Trade Show Temps, Monroe Personnel, Wollborg/Michelson, TemPositions, Exhibitors Connection, The Balcom Group, and Dakota Events.

San Francisco Bay Area And Washington, D.C.

* Contacted, scheduled and coordinated hundreds of volunteers, political leaders, and celebrities to read names at AIDS Memorial Quilt displays in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. since 1989.* Coordinated three-day round-the-clock reading of all 86,000+ names from the Quilt in Washington, D.C. to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the first AIDS diagnosis in June, 2001.* Coordinated reading of names at 25th-anniversary display of Quilt in San Francisco, February 2012* Coordinated reading of names at Quilt display in AIDS Memorial Grove commemorating 40th anniversary of first AIDS diagnoses, June 2021* Coordinated reading of names at 35th anniversary display of the Quilt in Golden Gate Park, June 2022. * Remain involved with the Quilt as a volunteer on an as-needed basis.

* Co-producer of award-winning feature-length documentary "Alaska Far Away: The New Deal Pioneers of the Matanuska Colony," which has been seen at 16 film festivals and over 300 other live screenings, plus 467 public television broadcasts on 156 different channels in 42 states.* Co-producer of "Where the River Matanuska Flows: Stories of Alaska Pioneers," which has been broadcast on all-Alaska station 360 North/KTOO-TV; also used in Alaskan school history programs.Both films currently available for streaming at www.alaskafaraway.comResponsibilities have included co-producing, writing and directing the films; promotion and marketing; creating social media campaigns; hosting daily live screenings each year at Alaska State Fair; teaching Matanuska Colony history to third-grade classes annually at Alaska State Fair.* Juster Hill Productions honored by Palmer Historical Society in Palmer, Alaska for historic preservation.

Coordinated & oversaw production of BCEF's signature annual fundraising event, THIS OLD BAG, a high-end handbag auction. Recruited & coordinated a team of contractors (event producers, publicist), volunteer committees, and interns; solicited donations and maintained inventory of hundreds of handbags ranging in value from $35 to $10,000; promoted the event through social media and communications with BCEF donors; built and maintained relationships with sponsors and donors; coordinated all details of the event.Additional responsibilities at BCEF included building and maintaining relationships with community organizations, local businesses, foundations, and individual donors; seeking and promoting fundraising opportunities within the community; creating fundraising appeals; researching potential donors.

Manage financial matters and personal business for world-class musician. Duties include facilitating preparation of tax returns, managing all financial affairs, facilitating real estate transactions, overseeing household staff, coordinating home renovations, and more as assigned. More information upon request.NOTE: While the position of managing day-to-day business ended in 2017, I continue to assist with preparation of this client's tax returns each year.

Returned to AWSF part-time during the busy season leading up to 2011 AIDS Walk, which raised over $3 million for local AIDS organizations. Worked closed with all AWSF staff in coordinating and supervising volunteers in preparation for AIDS Walk.

* Recruited, trained and coordinated volunteers for everything from daytime office work to major events utilizing over 250 volunteers. * Created volunteer database where none existed before, and grew it to over 650 volunteers. * Collaborated with other non-profit agencies to provide volunteers for numerous outside events that benefited our organizations. * Developed and managed community fundraising events and grassroots fundraising projects that benefited both our agencies. * Solicited and managed donations of goods and services for silent and live auctions, including designer handbag auction that raised over $100,000 annually.* Wrote articles, contributed photographs and provide proofreading and editing services for agency newsletter sent to over 6,000 supporters. * Wrote and provided photographs for agency's social media campaigns on Facebook and Twitter.

Paraprofessional for sole proprietor accountancy firm. Areas of expertise included audit preparation and management, compliance management, tax and bankruptcy support, preparation for peer reviews.

Grassroots organizer creating and building community fundraising teams for AIDS Walk San Francisco, and participating in event planning and execution. Events included nearly 35,000 participants and raised over $3 million each year for local AIDS organizations.After leaving MZA, continued on as seasonal volunteer and Team Leader through present.

* Coordinated national auditions for the country's leading summer training program for young opera professionals. * Coordinated travel, housing and publicity for the young artists here in San Francisco, providing support as they launched their careers.* Worked with boards of directors, press, artists and community to create successful performances and fundraising events.* Worked with photographers and graphic designers to create publicity and promotional materials for twelve distinct programs under the auspices of the SFOC.

Retail clerk children's book specialist at iconic bookstore in downtown Santa Cruz.Upon moving to San Francisco in 1978, worked at Solar Lights Books and Brentano's Bookstore until 1980.
