Before co-founding Designer for a Day in 2008, Joan worked as an interiors project designer for Bank of Hawaii and Leo A Daly. As Director of Interior Design for the Castle Design Group, she was responsible for full service interior design, including purchasing for Castle Resorts & Hotels. She continues to be a partner with her architect husband, John, in Robinson-Whitaker Design.Joan Robinson-Whitaker, ASID is an award-winning interior designer with over 25 years experience in both residential and commercial design.A Kalani High School graduate, Joan received her Interior Design degree from the University of California, which included two years of study at the well-respected American College of Lucerne, Switzerland. After completing her education and the proscribed years of experience in the field, she was eligible to sit for the rigorous national NCIDQ exam, qualifying her to become a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).Joan has always been active in the local community. A consummate professional, her work has received numerous awards and has been published in Honolulu Magazine, Hawaii Home and Remodeling, and Island Home.
