I experienced Camp Elvin first as a camper in second grade and attended as a camper until I was fifteen. I then became a helper for a couple weeks and eventually moved up to becoming a counselor, and have been a counselor for several years. Camp Elvin is an amazing camp and while working there, I have gained experience in serving the community, while also gaining many new friendships. I have helped in providing a fun and safe environment for the campers to learn and grow in community and friendships.

During Detasseling, I learned how to persevere and how to produce good quality work. Detasseling is farm work which involves a good amount of physical labor. It was a job that motivated me to do the best that I can in everything that I do, but it also taught me how to be determined and patient in whatever job I am doing. It was one of the most difficult jobs that I have had, but it definitely has taught me a lot and I would not trade that experience for anything.
