Public Relations Director of this 100% volunteer Dallas, TX based 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Responsible for increasing the presence of the nonprofit in the DFW area and nationally; establish and maintain working relationships with businesses and other nonprofits; finding opportunities to expand our network Nationally and Internationally, especially through social media. I am also responsible for updating and creating content on our website, which in 2022 will undergo a site update to improve our visitor's experience.Jamaica YES is dedicated to raising funds for underserved schools and students in Jamaica since 2004, which has included over 25 schools and impacting thousands of students. Jamaica YES provides a breakfast program to underserved school children to help ensure that no child starts the school day hungry. It has been found that with a school meal provided, school attendance improves, improved attentiveness, grades and test scores. For those students who are unable to afford school transportation (some schools are so remote that walking to school isn't an option), Jamaica YES provides funding to assist students that would otherwise be at home or not able to attend school on a regular basis.We rely on the generosity of individuals and companies while also hosting fundraisers to raise money to assist the school children. Without the support and generosity of those individuals and companies, we wouldn't be able to do what we do, making a difference in the lives and future of the underserved school children. The requests we receive from schools are numerous and are mission is to try to fulfill as many requests as possible but unfortunately we can't help every school that applies for our assistance.
