Principal Investigator: Dr. Yunan Luo- Developing a protein language model-based deep neural network using PyTorch to accurately predict protein function given the sequence with a Person correlation coefficient of 0.85- Implemented Deep Imbalanced Regression to execute data distribution-smoothing method and address the data imbalances found in protein function data. - Integrating novel data quality valuation method, Data-OOB, into function prediction framework to cull samples highly impacted by noise and ultimately improve model performance.

R&D Product Test Group- Developed an Illumina DRAGEN somatic variant calling pipeline using Nextflow to analyze tumor-normal sample pairs and identify somatic variants that exist at low allele frequencies.- Identified issues and documentation gaps pertaining to data ingestion through usage of Illumina Connected Analytics - Collaborated with teams across multiple disciplines to facilitate a deep understanding of bioinformatics software - Presented workflow development pressure points to the ICA software development team to optimize the pipeline developer experience.

Principal Investigator: Dr. David Mack, Neuromuscular Disease Research Group- Analyzing Molecular Dynamics simulation datasets to quantify differences in protein dynamics by writing Python scripts to analyze and visualize changes due to mutations - Evolving known protein structures to model missing proteins and generating sequence homology reports to identify highly conserved regions- Identifying potential ligandable sites for drugs using clustering and pocket detection techniques- Developing library of drug candidates using Linux and AutoDock to screen 10,000 molecules for docking affinity- Collaborate with team at weekly meetings to collaborate, communicate progress, and optimize further research - Delivered a 90-minute presentation to the Neuromuscular Disease Research Group
