I’m Joanne McEachen (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Māmoe, Waitaha), a celebrated author, keynote speaker, entrepreneur, and global change leader with over 35 years of diverse experience in education and entrepreneurship. My journey began in Aotearoa New Zealand (NZ), where I started as a teacher and principal. I then worked with the Ministry of Education as a system leader, managing multiple whole-country/system initiatives and initiating systemic reform—always driven by my passion for equitable outcomes and authentic assessment. 📚✨In 2012, I crossed the Pacific to the USA to found The Learner First—a company dedicated to merging academic and social & emotional learning in schools in multiple countries including USA, Australia, and NZ. As CEO from 2012-2022, I championed systemic approaches that honor each student’s identity, culture, and aspirations within their educational journey.I also co-founded New Pedagogies for Deep Learning (NPDL), a global initiative that focuses on fostering deep learning competencies such as creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration in students worldwide. 🌟In 2020, embracing my roots once more in New Zealand led me to establish Kia Kotahi Ako Charitable Trust—addressing critical global challenges from indigenous perspectives on education to climate change. My insights stem not just from theory but hands-on experience collaborating with countries’ school communities globally. As an ISC Research Edruptor (2022) and KEA World Class New Zealand Citizen awardee (2023), my work has been recognized for its impact on global education. In September 2023 I returned to Seattle to continue developing the Contributive Learning framework for global release and to begin an exciting venture—Peerwell. Peerwell is an innovative platform designed for mental health prevention through peer learning. With Peerwell’s engaging environment rooted in Contributive Learning principles, we aim for transformative real-world results. Contributive Learning emphasizes the importance of each individual’s contributions to their community, fostering a sense of purpose and belonging while ensuring long-lasting, meaningful outcomes.Let’s connect on this extraordinary journey towards transformation! 🚀 #EducationRevolution #GlobalChangeMaker
