The PhD project consisted in generating and analising past and projected wave climatologies for the New Zealand area.– Achievements: • Collaborated with other researchers that used the outcomes of my research • Collaborated with fellow PhD colleagues helping them solve their problems in their PhD research • Analysed New Zealand’s wave climate projections and historical simulations (1987–2006, 2031–2051 and 2081–2100) from different global climate models (GCMs) and emission scenarios • Made available online the wave climate projections (2031–2051 and 2081–2100) for New Zealand • Downscaled New Zealand wave climate projections and historic simulations for three timeslices (1987–2006, 2031–2051 and 2081–2100) using data from three different GCMs under two different emission scenarios • Downscaled, validated and made available online a 20-year hindcast (1993–2012) for the whole New Zealand • Developed Python scripts to automatically generate SWAN input files, manage job dependency/submission, generate wind grids from CFSR data and reconstruct wave spectra from partitioned hindcasts • Developed and published a method to correct partitioned hindcasts (windsea and swell) wave heights based on satellite measurements • Attended to two training stays at University of Cantábria (UC) learning dynamical and statistical downscaling among other techniques
