I’ve been working at AWS Billing. AWS needs to maintain product and pricing information for the hundreds of millions of product variations we sell or sold.I work autonomously with my team maintaining some of these services and working everyday to allow AWS service teams to author, store and deliver accurate product information. Our services are upstream of every point of interaction the customer has with their AWS bills, from price lists, to the marketing pages, their invoices and Insights.We operate distributed systems across continents and AWS partitions, including commercial AWS, our Chinese operations, and other private deployments.

I worked at Superchat during a summer, and through some of my last college year, where I implemented high-leverage product features for this fast-growing startup. This work involved designing scalable data architectures in PostgreSQL, implementing services and REST APIs in Kotlin/Quarkus, and implementing frontend UI in React/TypeScript/TailwindCSS.The highlight of my time at Superchat was re-thinking the email client within the app. I implemented proper conversation threading and inline attachment support, resizing viewports based on the window and content size, allowing moving messages out into their own thread, and tracking edit history. This required me to deeply understand how email is structured according to the relevant RFCs, redesign and migrate the database schema that stored it, working with security features in our frontend that disallowed script injection, parsing and rewriting HTML, and using advanced PostgreSQL features to keep mailbox querying efficient.

SINF returned in late October 2020 with a new format adapted to pandemic-related challenges and, as the Head of Operations, I managed the team which ensured all the logistical aspects on which the event depends, leading to a record 300 participant enrolments per day.
