• July 2018 – Sept 2018: participated in Tanzanian cultural and Swahili language training in order to prepare for site placement• Taught Form I Mathematics to 340 students, teaching 18, 40-min periods per week with a Tanzanian counterpart • Jan 2019 – March 2020: taught Form II Mathematics to 345 students, teaching 30, 40-min periods per week • Participated in HURU (an NGO which aims to deliver high-quality reusable menstrual pads and sexual and reproductive health education to girls and their peers) training and led seminar on female reproductive health for 100 secondary school students • Wrote and executed two grants with school counterparts • Grant 1: two large metal containers for storing beans (food source for 1300 students), which eliminated the need for harmful pesticides on the beans before cooking, increasing student health and safety • Grant 2: built water storage system where water could be sanitized and distributed to four pumps throughout school campus to increase student access to water for drinking and completing day to day activities • Communicated daily in a Tanzanian cultural context and Swahili language
