Since June 2014 I am entrepreneur of the CASCAT GmbH in Straubing.CASCAT combines the better of the two worlds of synthetic biotechnology and classical chemical catalysis to realize novel green process routes for chemical building blocks. We boost multi-stage processes toward industrial scale. In order to obtain stable and robust processes our enzymes are perfectly adapted to process conditions and the presence of their chemical counterparts. The use of promiscuous biocatalysts enables short cascades and reduced needs of cost intensive co-factors thus lowering production costs. We realize economic, highly efficient synthetic cascades for the production of bio-based bulk, fine and specialty chemicals to enhance efficiency in the field of bio-economy.
