About Jodie Ball

I am a very enthusiastic and determined engineer who is interested in renewable energy technologies, climate change, recycling and re-purposing, outdoor pursuits and much much more. I enjoy being part of a successful and productive team and thrive in highly pressurized and challenging working environments. I am always willing to learn, am very motivated and resourceful. I try to inject passion, innovation and perseverance into any new challenge demonstrating initiative and an organisational ability. I possess excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence decisions and to develop positive internal and external relationships.I have now been back in the engineering industry for the past 4 years, thanks to Xodus for giving me the opportunity after having time off to bring my girls up. I then moved on, working with a developer known as Cierco, working on projects within Floventis Energy limited focused on floating wind projects, very privileged to have worked with an amazing expert team. I have now started a new position with AFRY, as a project manager in the wind and solar space. My long term goals are all with a focus to ensure the future of a zero carbon energy world, first and foremost because it is the right thing to do, but also because I want a future for my girls. I will pursue a career in renewable energy technologies and ensure that happens using my varied skills in engineering, management and new acquired skills. My self development goals are to become proficient in many different renewable technology platforms, engineering management, project management and new innovations to support commercial wind projects and support local communities and their needs to meet a zero carbon energy transition. I am also very keen to support the well being of others in our race against time to ensure the life of our planet, through engineering solutions and kindness.

I have 10 years of successful and productive engineering experience within varying disciplines, mainly aerospace, hydrogen fuel cell thermal systems and Wind Farm development and construction (from a mechanical engineering role). I am now learning CREO for design engineering working with a company called TheDam https://www.thedam.fr/. This will involve product development, manufacture, testing and certification. All these skills I am hoping to put to good use within the area of technology for the fight against climate change. This could be in a huge range of areas, which I am excited to get to work on. If you have an idea and would like help to get it started or to get it finished then let me know, I love to collaborate and impart enthusiasm and experience in any project.A little bit more about my background:I have effectively implemented wind farms in the West Highlands of Scotland and contributed positively to Scotland's largest offshore wind farm (84 of Siemens Gamesa 7MW WTG). Having, provided technical expertise and quality throughout onshore windfarm projects, such as Bhlaraidh (32 of V112/117-3.45MW WTG), during development and construction and upheld and strengthened wind turbine supplier contracts, I have successfully delivered on over 300MW of energy. I have spearheaded hydrogen fuel cell component test rigs and increased efficiency of components, for the thermal system of innovative new technology. I am truly an advocate for renewable energy technology. Going forward I believe that the efficiency of these technologies is key in establishing a zero-carbon world, for the future of our planet and our children.
