Jodi Phillis is an Apra Screen Music Award recipient and ARIA nominated singer/songwriter/composer/artist who first made her mark on the Australian cultural landscape with alt-rock band The Clouds, who formed in 1989. Jodi has forged a parallel career as an independent, influential solo singer/songwriter, producing six albums under her own name plus albums with The Dearhunters, Roger Loves Betty, and The Glamma Rays. Constantly exploring new musical realms, Jodi spearheaded the all female composer’s project Seven Stories for Vivid, which premiered at City Recital Hall in 2017. Jodi is an Australian Film Radio and Television School graduate, and has scored music for the screen, and orchestral music for the stage. Jodi composed music for ‘Encounter' in collaboration with Amanda Brown for Form Dance Projects, Parramatta. Encounter was performed by the Western Sydney Youth Orchestra and premiered at Sydney Festival in 2020.Most recently Jodi co-composed ‘Soundtrack to our Teenage Zombie Apocalypse’ on ABC Me with Damien Lane. The pair won the Apra Screen Music Award for Best Original Song in 2023.In 2018 Jodi released ‘Becoming’, a return to her default mode of singer songwriter, mining the deep seam of neo-romantic chamber folk-pop.Jodi's sixth solo album We Need To Be Free, produced by Damien Lane was released through Cheersquad Records in April 2022.Jodi lives in Bendigo, Victoria.During the first Covid lockdown Jodi took up painting.
