I caught the proverbial "car audio bug" at the early age of 15 and, upon finishing high school, chose to pursue electrical engineering as a way of furthering my knowledge in audio, engineering principles, and theory. During college, I was also actively involved in aftermarket audio sales and competition, eventually being trained as a certified IASCA judge. About the time I was finishing school, I was impartially evaluating and scoring sound quality competitions at the regional and world level. Concurrently, the opportunity to professionally tune automotive audio systems became a reality for me at Bose Corporation, late in 2003. My passion, dedication, and attention to detail helped pair with my creative side to successfully launch dozens of systems for General Motors. As my technical background and experience grew, my responsibilities and interactions both internally and customer facing rose to a lead role. I then spent a couple years in technical sales to broaden my skill set and gained key business and planning experience. For nearly a year, I worked to bridge the gap between research and applications. This position includes assessing market trends and performance benchmarks. Afterwards, our division needed assistance to bring a new customer application team up to speed in a new region. For nearly 4 years, I pursued my interest in headphones and 3-dimensional audio. My family and I relocated to the greater Portland (OR), working for Logitech at their world class facility in Camas, WA. As the Senior Acoustic Engineer for Astro Gaming, I lead many product refreshes, as well as a few new headphone developments. I applied my knowledge of tools and testing to create some great new testing capabilities. More recently, I made another big career change to explore the field of underwater acoustics. As a Staff Acoustic Engineer, my job entails piezo-electric ceramic design and testing for both hydrophones and projectors in small and large array systems. It was not to be and was cut short in the fall of 2023.A startup company in Chicago, Frontier Audio Labs, is my latest adventure. We are working on SOTA headsets for defense and industrial applications. I'm loving it.
