In my 3 decades plus CFO career, I have spent half that time as a public company CFO. During the last 10 years, I have enjoyed CFO “IPO readiness” roles both in the healthcare/ life sciences and biotech space. My career has centered on working closely with the CEO, the Board of Directors, and the management team running day to day operations. Early in my career, I worked for several Wall Street companies that prepared me for the publicly traded experiences. I thrive on learning new industries, bonding with teammates for the common goal and doing this with an affable style.Building accounting/finance departments, timely and accurate reporting, as well as cost effective internal controls, were crucial to be able to distribute meaningful internal reports to management and maintain external investors’ confidence in the respective executive teams throughout my career. I thoroughly enjoy attracting, and most importantly, retaining investors. I have worked with external Investor Relations firms as well as produced IR internally. I may not have all the answers all the time, but I will know someone that will!Earlier in my career, I oversaw a reverse merger/acquisition between a publicly traded manufacturing company and a private company based in Houston, Texas which led to American Electric Technologies getting listed on the NASDAQ. Timely and accurate reporting, as well as cost effective internal controls, were crucial to be able to distribute meaningful internal reports to management and provide external investors’ confidence in their executive team. Prior to 1989, I held management positions with Dean Witter Reynolds, Paine Webber, Inc., and Price Waterhouse. At PriceWaterhouse, I obtained his CPA license. I received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame in 1980.
