Actively lead Product Engineering activities for all of Generac's major product categories:• Mobile Products - diesel and gaseous fueled gensets, light towers, water pumps, and heaters• Engine Powered Tools - pressure washers, portable gensets, water pumps• Commercial & Industrial Products - diesel and gaseous fueled stationary gensets• Home Standby - residential, gaseous fueled home back-up gensets

Responsible for leadership and management of global Engineering teams in China, India, Europe, and US (~130 employees). Scope includes Engineering and Program Management activities related to NPD, R&D, and Sustaining Engineering activities for Portable Air Compressors, Mobile Generators, and Light Towers.

•Provide global Program Management oversight for Portable Power ($600M) NPD projects•Develop and oversee application of common tools for project evaluation, prioritization, execution, and tracking to increase speed to market and improve product launches•Coordinate and focus efforts of overseas Engineering teams and leaders on project execution, resource management, workload prioritization, recruitment, organizational development, and knowledge sharing•Manage Advanced Engineering and Technology Development (Mechanical & Electrical) to support current and future global business growth•Assist VP of Engineering in developing and maintaining the US Engineering budget in alignment with the overall global Engineering budget to support goals of Annual Operating Plan•Provide global Engineering input to executive leadership team to support successful development of 5 year Long Range Plan

•Established a dedicated Program Management function to provide global project guidance, oversight, and tracking•Championed the development and application of the Portable Power NPD Phase •Gate and related processes to support improved product launches and increased project team functionality•Managed Advanced Engineering team (Mechanical & Electrical – 9 direct reports) to drive Technology Development in alignment with business goals•Actively participated in Engine Work Group team charged with developing and recommending diesel engine related product line strategies

•Directly managed Engineers, Designers, and Technicians to support NPD, R&D, sustaining engineering activities, VA/VE efforts, and PIP projects related to diesel powered mobile gensets, light towers, and portable air compressors.•Performed merit performance reviews and development plan reviews for 6 direct reports.•Developed and implemented processes and procedures to improve Engineering efficiency and ensure ISO-9000 compliance•Provided project and technical guidance to overseas Engineering teams (Czech Republic, China, and India) including Technology Transfer of designs for local manufacture.

•Led design development activities of portable air compressors in Pro/Engineer and MFG/Pro systems from initial concept through production•Actively developed Product Specifications (with Marketing), Project Plans, Product and Project Cost Estimates, Project Reviews, Detailed Drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM), Option Logic Diagrams, and Project Files•Led cross-functional product development teams to support portfolio expansion plans

•Managed engineering activities related to new product development of Hyster and Yale Class III Motorized Hand Electric Lift Trucks from concept through production.•Supervised and directed the efforts of 3 Design Engineers, 1 Designer, 1 Test Engineer, and 1 Co-Op Student in a team-oriented environment.•Actively led the design team in virtual prototyping of components and vehicles using Pro/Engineer 3D Modeling and Pro/PDM software•Ensured designs conformed to corporate and industry standards including the requirements of Demand Flow Technology (DFT) methods of manufacture.•Coordinated design efforts with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Field Service.•Managed project activities to ensure budget and schedule requirements were met.
