Currently in Angola

Part of a team involved in the setting up and operationof a diamond mine in a remote part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This included the setting up of a camp, the mine, andplant. Liaison with local authorities plus communications with head office in Kinshasa apart of the duties. Attending board meetings, constructing budgets andadhering to environmental matters are also included. Duties also include day to dayreporting to Kinshasa of production figures. Responsible for the day to day management of the minewhich includes HSSE functions, mine security, mining, metallurgy, camp management,engineering and all associated operations of a working mine. From May 2008 transferred to Projecto Chiri to overseeoperations at a Kimberlite Evaluation Project. Managed the assembly, commissioning andproduction of a 10tph plant and overseeing production.

Transferred from the DRC by Gem Diamonds management tooversee a prospecting project which would end up with a pre feasibility report. This wascompleted April 2009. The camp had up to 20 ex pats at any one time, includingcontract drillers, geologists and security. Total of 70 people were on site during fulloperations. At end March 2009 operations came to an end and the campwas put on care and maintenance while the PF report was completed and scrutinised. Tours of duty include looking after Luanda office whennot on site.

Appointed to be responsible for the operational duties of ADP/ Metco in Angola. Duties include customer liaisons, commissioning plants,troubleshooting problems on site for the various projects. The set up of an office was completed and this is now afunctioning entity. Training programmes for Angolan nationals in Cape Town havebeen carried out, I was responsible to organise, lecture and co ordinate the courses. In Cape Town meetings are attended to design plants plusmeet customers and go through their specification for their projects.

General underground duties, tramming, blasting, track laying.

Responsible for the security of diamonds found during the washing material through apilot plant. The diamonds were weighed, logged, and then locked away. The plant wasoperated by an eight man shift, supervised by myself, as was the operation and efficiency of theplant.Repairs to and modifications were part of the duties. A tour was spent in a bush campwhere a new plant was commissioned and operated, away from the main site.
