As a researcher in the Strategic Energy Analysis Center at NREL, I work on systems analyses for hydrogen to support the energy transition. My research focuses on production and network models, cost estimation, and technoeconomic analysis for hydrogen and related technologies.

I served as associate music director for the CMU School of Drama's 2020 production of Into the Woods as well as music assistant and rehearsal accompanist for the 2019 production of Cabaret. I’ve also music directed several shows for Playground, the School of Drama’s annual festival of original student work, all put together in just one week. For these roles, I’ve led and assisted with rehearsals teaching and polishing music.In spring of 2021, I was the music director for the CMU School of Drama’s class project of Assassins. I worked with a creative team of other students to develop a shared vision for the show and determine an innovative and engaging medium for the show which is safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. I also worked with musicians and sound designers to record the instrumental music for the show.

As a CA, I worked with and supervised a staff of 11 resident assistants who supported over 400 building residents. I collaborated with two university staff members to set and implement a house vision through educational and community-building programs. Job responsibilities included leading weekly staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with RAs to deliver feedback, managing the community budget, and coordinating with other CAs to organize large-scale events and lead campus initiatives.For the role, I was trained in facilitating dialogue, emergency response, and the Kouzes and Posner leadership theory.

Golden, Colorado

As an intern at NREL, I studied three new electrolyte formulations for use in lithium-ion batteries, with the long-term goal of developing batteries with charge times close to 10 minutes. The project involved evaluating electrolyte stability and constructing small batteries with the new electrolytes. Once made, I evaluated battery performance and material compatibility.Other projects included using Python to perform Fast-Fourier-Transforms on voltage data to model battery properties and collecting data on the reversibility of battery charging and discharging.

As an RA, I served as a leader, advisor, and administrator for 30+ residents and the entire dorm community. Primary responsibilities were one-on-one sessions with residents, on-call times, and programming through bulletin boards, posters, and weekly events. I collaborated with 7 other RAs in the building to plan and execute large-scale events such as an art gallery night and end-of-year barbecue.For the job, I trained in and developed skills in leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and cultural competency. Examples of programming include bulletin boards to educate residents on wellness and academic success and a weekly sustainability initiative.

I was responsible for handling, calculation, presentation, and analysis of data for my department’s sterilization and washing processes. I worked with shop floor managers and technical personnel to create and process metrics for standardized work and equipment reliability. I was also in charge of the revision of several written cleaning procedures, involving re-writing and the creation of equipment diagrams.Key results include tracking/driving standard work which saves the department $60-100K per year, and improving length and readability of standard procedures by 15-25%.I also gained experience in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma through training and other work such as batch record review.

My job was to synthesize and purify new and existing surfactants to be used in experiments for doctoral students in the lab. Day-to-day work involved setting up and supervising the reaction, as well as purifying surfactants with rotary evaporation of solvent and silica-gel column chromatography. I also did some basic solubility testing for the materials we synthesized.As part of the research, I experimented with the reaction procedure, adding steps such as preheating the solvent and increased mixing, to achieve better reactant solubility and reaction yield.
