As a teacher, labor leader, and technologist, I’m committed to empowering others through education. I work with students, faculty and staff, adult learners, and fellow higher education colleagues to tackle diverse challenges and support them in achieving personal and professional success. CHAMPIONING ADVOCACY: I want every working person to have a voice on the job. By assisting my union siblings in obtaining opportunities for career advancement, financial betterment, and access to due processes that were previously unattainable, I’ve helped strengthen the labor movement within higher education. I’m most proud to have co-developed a workplace civility policy that reduced toxicity and bullying. STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP: I’m driven to create meaningful change through my work. By recommending new tools and programs, communicating the needs of ~500 university employees, and guiding technology integration within pedagogy, I’ve greatly enhanced the learning environment for my coworkers and students. VALUABLE COLLABORATION: I’m known for my interpersonal relationships with colleagues and university management. Together, we’ve reduced job loss when several departments were eliminated, implemented a new SUNY-wide LMS, and seamlessly transitioned to remote learning during the pandemic. As a self-motivated team member, I bring reliability and tenacious problem-solving to the table.EMPATHETIC COMMUNICATION: Having participated in an expansive amount of volunteerism alongside mentoring, and educating ESOL adult students, I’ve seen first-hand the positive impact that grace and understanding of circumstances different than my own can have on someone’s life. I’m inspired by the “aha!” moment in a person’s learning and am skilled at conveying concepts and knowledge to individuals with varying levels of expertise. My tenure with SUNY Geneseo has allowed me to see both immediate and long-term returns on my investment of time. I’m looking to bring my passion for social action, adaptability, and proactive mindset to a new managerial role where I can continue to facilitate individual and organizational advancement.
