Joe served in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps with the Peace Corp in the West Indies, taught English and mathematics there and in New Jersey. He was a quarter finalist in the Nebraska Golden Gloves 1968 and 1969, but fared less well in the 1970 N.J. Golden Gloves. Mickey Walker, World Middleweight Champ, was his coach.In 1968, Joe ran “Students for RFK” in Nebraska, which was one of the first org to drive the eligible elderly to the polls during one of only 12 state primaries that year. This no doubt helped Kennedy defeat the favored Humphrey five weeks before RFK’s assassination in L.A.Joe was a comedy writer for political impressionist, Jim Morris, who appeared on SNL, and was a contributing writer to Comic Relief in 1989, 90 and ‘91. Drum also co-wrote an “Off” Broadway comedy with Jim Morris in 1992 which received excellent reviews from The New Yorker magazine. He has served on the boards of many charitable organizations, including Park City Hospital, The International Institute and Americares. Joe is a member of The Boston Bar Association, The Massachusetts Conveyancers Association, The Connecticut Bar Association, New England Corporate Counsel Association, past Chairman of the Real Estate Committee of the Westchester and Fairfield County American Corporate Counsel Association, and past President of The New England Land Title Association.Joe received his undergraduate degree from Hiram Scott College/University of Nebraska in 1971 where he was appointed by President Nixon to serve on the United States Justice Department’s Advisory Committee on the Student Riots of Kent State. He received his Juris Doctorates from University of Bridgeport and The Quinnipiac College of Law, New Haven, CT and successfully completed the executive post-graduate MBA program at M.I.T.’s Center for Real Estate Studies. Joe is a Fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (“ACMA”), a national honorary organization that recognizes outstanding lawyers who specialize in the field of real estate mortgage lending and related activities. Joe is one of twenty-eight ACMA Fellows in California. In 2000, Joe moved to California from Massachusetts which, he claims to this day, has improved both states.Joe has over 49 years experience in Real Estate: CEO of UGT Insurance Company, EVP/Fidelity National Title,Lawyers, FATCO & WFG, where he was in charge of agency operations and strategic initiatives.He is the author of 3 books: Understanding RESPA (Library of Congress No. 94-78352), Understanding Reg X, and Mortgage Financing.He tags and releases all Marlin.
