I also perform installations and sell yearly service contracts to customers. Along with that I design and create custom sheet-metal ductwork and ventilation materials.As an office assistant I maintain the customer database, answer phones, direct and assist customers, and am responsible for organizing and filing customer information, and monitor inventory. I also dispatch and schedule technicians during day-to-day operations. This experience has taught me communication, time management, teamwork, and the hard skill necessary to succeed in this industry.

Empire Comfort Systems is a family-owned business that designs and manufactures furnaces, fireplaces, space heaters, and many other indoor and outdoor comfort appliances in the United States and Canada. During my second internship at Empire Comfort Systems, I operated as a Manufacturing Engineering intern. In this role, I performed numerous time studies on manufacturing workflow for labor estimates and process improvement projects. I also managed two assembly line sequences of events and visual work instruction rebuilds for facility relocation. This project was completed in collaboration with other interns over the course of the summer and utilized company-wide communication from head engineers to assembly line employees.

True manufacturing is a commercial refrigeration company leading the industry with the use of natural refrigerants. Based in the St. Louis area, it has been providing commercial refrigerants solutions since 1945. While at True as a mechanical engineering CO-OP, I worked with department leaders, process engineers, line supervisors, and plant managers as part of the Manufacturing department to improve line efficiency, reduce waste materials, and reduce production time. I also designed ergonomic improvements and manufacturing fixtures for line workers, reducing inefficiencies and increasing production. While at True, some the most important skills I acquired were communication and project time management with the combination of mechanical engineering design skills utilizing Solidworks software.Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic cut my time short at True Manufacturing, but it was an intellectually enlightening experience for me.

Owned by Panasonic, Hussmann Corporation is a leader in providing display merchandisers, refrigeration systems, and installation services to food retailers around the world. My time at Hussmann was spent as an intern working in the New Technology Development department. There I learned numerous new skills that involved 3D modeling and design with the uses of SolidEdge software and industrial 3D printers. During my time at Hussmann I was able to work with engineers especially in engineering groups to help with the design of new upcoming units. This continued to improve my communication skills and taught me the importance of continued growth and learning in my future career. Additionally, all interns were required to work in groups across multiple disciplines to assist customers in the college food distribution market, which showed me the importance of collaboration and teamwork in engineering.

During my first time with Empire, I collaborated with engineers to conceptualize ideas for updating products and solving issues with current production units. I also used my skills to update current and future product designs using temperature testing with handmade thermocouples, and I conducted periodic testing on production units. During this internship, I gained both field knowledge and personal communication skills, and I enjoyed my time with this company greatly.
