I have 25 years of experience in scientific research, 15 years as a principal investigator, and 8 years of experience as an instructor of biology courses. For four years, I have served as a Scientific Consultant and Chief Scientific Officer at Thompson Oncology, an immunotherapy-based medical device company.I received two bachelors degrees (Biotechnology-Animal Systems option and Biology), a minor in chemistry, and a Ph.D in Virology from Montana State University in Bozeman. At the University of Iowa, I worked my way up from a postdoctoral fellow in parasitology to a research scientist and finally an assistant research professor in the internal medicine department as an immunologist. Since 2016, I have been teaching courses and training undergraduate students in cellular and molecular biology-related courses including Virology, Immunology, and Biotechnology.I have a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals from my career prior to teaching. Via successful grant applications, I have funded my research lab continuously for the past 15 years. At Montana Tech, over 300 students that I have mentored presented their scientific research at local and regional conferences.Recent honors include an award in 2022 that represents outstanding teaching and research at Montana Technological University.
