Extensive background with 30 years experience with North Carolina Department of Public Safety - Prisons. Promoted through the correctional ranks from Correctional Officer to Correctional Administrator I. As Correctional Administrator, I managed one of the largest High Security prisons in North Carolina, housing 1,756 inmates in Close, Medium and Minimum custody levels. I also held positions as Operations Manager, Assistant Chief of Security and Chief of Security. As Chief of Security, I was responsible for managing the Security Services Section for North Carolina Department of Public Safety Prison Headquarters, to include, commanding the Prison Emergency Response Team (PERT), consisting of 450 members state wide, Special Operations Response Team (SORT), Special Operations Target Interdiction Team (SOTIT-Snipers), Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT), K-9 Narcotics/Fugitive Section and Honor Guard. I possess certifications through the North Carolina Office of Staff Development and Training with specialties to instruct Firearms and Correctional Restraints and Defensive Tactics. I graduated and later served as a Board of Directors member for The North Carolina Society of Certified Public Managers; to include serving as the chairman of the Ways and Means committee. After that, I graduated from the North Carolina Correctional Leadership Development Program. I possess extensive training/experience conducting security audits and researching, developing and testing security technologies, as well as prison perimeter electronic intrusion systems and new prison construction.To summarize, I am knowledgeable, experienced, and trained to provide subject matter expertise in the day-to-day operations of correctional and detention facilities.
