Casual It TechnicianHalesowen College Jul 2011 - Aug 2011Halesowen CollegeAs a casual technician it was my responsibility to aid the full-time technical staff of Halesowen College with their duties over the summer period. During my time there I was tasked with working as part of a team to set up the hardware and software for new computer rooms in the new IT block of the college. This required the correct handling, transportation and set up of hundreds of computers along with the relevant hardware and software. In addition to this I was tasked with providing maintenance and updates for the existing computers within the college. For much of my time there I was allowed to work unsupervised, checking in to the technician’s office when my task was completed. I also had responsibilities involving front-line troubleshooting, responding to support tickets posted by staff from various areas of the college. Working both within a team and on my own I was able to experience a variety of operating systems and computer specifications whilst improving my communication and inter-personal skills.
