I began work as a technical assistant, providing support for the IT systems and telephone support for customers, both in a technical capacity and as support for the telesales staff.I have since taken over supervision of the majority of the internal hardware and software for the company, including bespoke systems. In addition, I have been tasked with creating several new bespoke software programs for internal use by varying members of staff. Part of this has included being involved with concept design, providing proof of concept software samples and redesigning existing systems in order to modernize and optimize the companies systems.Most of the development is being produced in .NET C# with integration for an SQL Server backbone so that data can be stored and retrieved for the companies records.In addition to systems development, I am also responsible for first through third line tech support for local staff, machines and servers. While providing cover I also provide recommendations to management for hardware and software improvements that may benefit staff members or the company as a whole.Working at Group Gear is a thoroughly engaging role which requires a great deal of flexibility and allows me to regularly test a multitude of skills as I strive to improve the company, my abilities and myself.

As part of the FreeStyle Games team I was responsible for a large portion of the user-side day-to-day running of the company. I was currently responsible for the set up, monitoring and maintenance of all of the companies mobile hardware (laptops/phones/tablets) and state of the art development kits. I used a wide array of software and hardware on multiple operating systems to monitor and troubleshoot issues for over 120 staff members currently employed by the company. I used both remote management and physical visits to staff desks in order to troubleshoot problems and resolve issues as soon as possible after they were raised.

As a casual technician it was my responsibility to aid the full-time technical staff of Halesowen College with their duties over the summer period. During my time there I was tasked with working as part of a team to set up the hardware and software for new computer rooms in the new IT block of the college. This required the correct handling, transportation and set up of hundreds of computers along with the relevant hardware and software. In addition to this I was tasked with providing maintenance and updates for the existing computers within the college. For much of my time there I was allowed to work unsupervised, checking in to the technician’s office when my task was completed. I also had responsibilities involving front-line troubleshooting, responding to support tickets posted by staff from various areas of the college. Working both within a team and on my own I was able to experience a variety of operating systems and computer specifications whilst improving my communication and inter-personal skills.
